Just a heads-up: you are on a forum for Domoticz, not a generic forum for advice. Probably just about everybody here will advise a system built around Domoticz. Personally, I am planning something like that in the future, but be beware that this will most probably not be as sturdy as a purpose-built alarm-system. Be prepared to "fiddle with it" from time to time. If you want something you install and it is done, this is not for you in my personal opinion.
That being said: It sure is an option if you like to fiddle with it!
You can start in the wiki: https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Alarm_Setup or use the search-option in this forum if you have a specific part of the system you have questions about. There is a lot of info here!

Re: need a alarm system
Hi. I have just installed a new alarm system using a Honeywell accenta ayatem, and a separate gsm dialer.
The dialer can send a message or call, when the alarm is armed, disarmed , or ringing. It is also possible to arm or disarm the alarm by text if you want.
The accenta also has enough outputs so you can connect to domoticz - so your domoticz system can know if the alarm is set - or ringing etc..
This is the dialer - https://www.adventcontrols.co.uk/produc ... lar-alarms
Hopefully this helps.

We have a Jablotron 100. Communicates through ethernet and if that goes out it uses the mobile network to send SMS'es. Highly recommended!
