I am using OWM to keep an eye on the windspeeds to close my sunscreens.
The problem is that whether I use the lat, long location in the domiticz settings, enter lat, long in the OWM hardware or even use a city ID number for Utrecht, the values I get seem to be way to low.
Where OWM gives me windspeed 2.2m/s and gust 2.7m/s (save to keep the sunscreens down) this does not reflect what I experience outside
when I check other websites and apps, they seem to be accurate (accuweather: windspeed 8m/s and gust 16m/s. Weatherapp: wind 12m/s, KNMI: Windkracht 4 = 8m/s )
Those are values where I definitely need to put the sunscreen up. Does anyone experience the same issues and knows how to fix this?
OWM wind values too low Topic is solved

Did you check under Setup -> Settings -> Meters/Counters if settings are OK?

Re: OWM wind values too low
Yes, they are. I am tracking 3 wind values now. All in Domoticz. OWM, ACCU and Buitenradar. values are:
OWM: 0.9 (unknow, based on location, so should be utrecht)
ACCU: 3.8 (utrecht)
Buienradar: 4.6 (de bilt)
You can see how much OWM is off

Re: OWM wind values too low
I have a PWS, that is the one I trust the most.
But sorry to say, my PWS and OWM are close to the same.
Buienrader has more deviation that PWS and OWM.
Beter check with and other location.

Re: OWM wind values too low
I set all the locations for the weather services to the same long, lat now in de hardware settings and these are the results. Even the temprature is with quite some difference
Openweather: 21,7 degrees, 0,9m/s wind, 1,3m/s gust (updated 16:49)
Accuweather: 20,8 degrees, 4,0m/s wind, 7,4m/s gust (updated 16:49)
Buitenradar: 24,5 degrees, 3,2m/s wind, 6,2m/s gust (updated 16:26)
I live in Utrecht, so not far from the Bilt where the main metrologic institute is, so I am puzzled how these values are so off
Which PWS do you use? maybe I have to get that too then, since the values are quite off. Or is there another way to get more correct measures?

Re: OWM wind values too low
I use Alecto WS 5500 as PWS. Almost fully satisfied with that PWS.
The only problem with that PWS is that the UV sensor / licht sensor is somewhat (not enough) elevated and with low elevation of the sun above the horizon the windspeed sensor or the wind direction sensor blocks a bit for a short time the UV sensor / licht sensor.
