After some more investigation, it does not seem to be dependent to the Dashticz installation.

yes, I used the automatic install for Dashticz.
Checking the free disk space shows that there is still enough free disk space:

Raspi does not boot into GUI after Dashticz installation.
When Raspi boots into GUI (as it did before Dashticz installation) I get asked to enter the password for user pi.
But password is not accepted.
